Merz In Progress

This company has continued to grow over the last 5 years and they have slowly taken over the building that they once shared. But the recent growth prompted them to renovate 20,000+ sqft of their warehouse space into lots of office space so they could accommodate current and future growth within the company. The facade of the building was not on the original plan but once the inside was getting finished and looked so great they felt it was important to have the outside look as good as the inside.

The lobby was once a small space that could hardly accommodate the receptionist. Keeping a sleek modern look but also inviting and warm was the goal for this space.

When the employee headcount more than double so did the breakroom. This group of people work hard and often eat lunch fast just to get back to work. The executive team and staff loved the original breakroom renovation (see archived project) so when it was time to expand they wanted to keep the warm inviting space that encouraged employees to eat lunch in the office and relax a little. The results were a 2 part breakroom, part 1 is a fully loaded kitchen with 2 refrigerators, oven, dishwasher, commercial ice maker, healthy vending and a Starbucks coffee machine! The other part is a large restaurant style space with cork floors, booths, TVs and 2 lounging areas. This space is also designed to accommodate meetings in the space with a catering counter and the booths are equipped with outlets at table level and wifi so employees can get out of the office with their laptops and have a more comfortable place to get some work done.

Some more Images. Starting with the separate kitchen space that most people would love to have in their home. This space is not quite complete in this picture but I had to include it.

This company works a lot in teams and so the meeting rooms and conference rooms are always booked and full. To help give more space for impromptu meetings these meeting pods are placed along a long bank of offices and allow for short team meetings in a private and quiet space.

This is an overflow space outside the new board room.

A huge barrel vaulted ceiling allows light to flood into the center of the space allowing everyone to have natural light.

Natalie's nursery

It's a girl! This client wanted to go all girl in this small nursery. Although it is a small space it is packed full of small details, and custom one of a kind items. I do love a nursery project!

Festive of Tables Charity Event

In January of 2011 I was asked to participate in a charity event for Habitat for Humanity. The Festival of Tables was an event that brought together interior designer and event planners to design a table scape in whatever theme they desired. During the event they held a silent auction and each table scape was sold to the highest bidder. All proceeds of the sales went to Habitat for Humanity. It was a wonderful event with a great turnout and the event raised $20,000+. My table theme was spring/Easter.

Mannington Commercial Tx:Style Carpet Design Contest Finalist

In December of 2008 Mannington Commercial Carpet company in search of new and fresh design ideas challenged architects and interior designers with less than 7 years experience to design a carpet for Mannington. Over 440 entries were posted to their contest social network site. My peers in the architecture and design community spoke, I was one of the 6 finalist! Mannington then took us to their mill in GA where we developed our designs. In June of 2009 Mannington showcased our designs in their showroom at NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago.
